    Q & A.
Question: In texts on advaita one often meets statements like "the world exists within awareness" and 'seeing things as they are". My difficulty is in understanding how the two relate to one another.
Consider a simple example - when my wife (= Source manifesting as ... = Local Awareness 1 =LA1) and I (.... =LA2) go for a walk, then she will be aware of red berries on a yew tree at 50 m. or more, but I have to come to about 10 m, or less before seeing the redness in the small berries. So clearly the 'world' of LA1 is different to that of LA2, and in fact it is unique to each one of us. Each LA depends on the body, and when these die, the respective 'worlds' disappear, but this does not affect the berries on the yew tree.
But 'as they are' the berries on the yew tree are not at all red. They consist of matter, of molecules, of atoms, of subatomic particles, of .... energy. The skin of the berries, composed of particular molecules, when illuminated by the light of our sun, and observed by our eyes sensitive to only a narrow spectrum, result in perception of redness in various LAs. So, how is it possible to 'see things as they are'?
Answer: 'Awareness' -as used in your mail- points to the Source-less Source, which appears as everything, including LA1 and LA2. Like space it is everywhere and every-when. It is not relative and therefore it has no location; still everything that has location appears in it.
A statement like "Seeing things as they really are." can also be understood as "Seeing how it really is."
The intellect draws arbitrary borders and assigns labels, which define 'things as things'. Trough the senses such things display apparent qualities; somewhat like a musician producing melodies from an 'empty' guitar.
Like the guitar, 'things' or appearances are in and of themselves empty. As such, in the absolute sense, the berries are neither molecules nor atoms, neither far away nor close by, neither red nor any other color; and -as you indicated- only relatively speaking do they 'acquire' such qualities.
The famous Buddhist adage from the Heart Sutra comes to mind:
"Form is emptiness: emptiness is form."
To see that everything perceived appears only as a relative option, wholly dependent on the assumed reference point of an 'I', as well as on the perceptional filters applied, is in a sense already 'seeing it as it is.'
On investigation this 'seeing' is non-personal, non-local, and includes the 'I/person' as an observed object. It is Cognizing Presence, in which everything appears and subsides -including all bodies and all 'local perspectives'.
This Single Continuum does neither come nor go; IT simply IS. We could call it Awareness, the Absolute, or Consciousness; presently appearing to ItSelf as the eye, the sun, the berries and the way they are perceived. The Taoists have called this 'Mutual Arising.'
Poetically it has been called the 'Maha Mudra' or the 'Great Gesture.' Lucid, clear and present, beyond the reach of all concepts, it 'knows' all concepts as they arise.
Ultimately, no one can say or know how it really is and paradoxically, this -including the way it is perceived, and the stories of 'how things really are'- IS as it really is.

The Precious Treasury of the Basic Space of Phenomena
Everything is subsumed within all-inclusive awakened mind.
Since there is no phenomenon that is not included in awakened mind, the true nature of all phenomena is awakened mind.
Space is a metaphor for awakened mind.
Since the mind has no cause and is not an object that comes into being, it does not abide in any finite way, is inexpressible, and transcends the realm of imagination.
The phrase "the realm of space" is simply a way of illustrating it metaphorically.
If even the metaphor itself cannot be described as some "thing," how could the underlying meaning that it illustrates be imagined or described?
It should be understood as a metaphor for what is naturally pure.
The underlying meaning is that awakened mind is self-knowing awareness equal to space.
It is not within the realm of imagination, for it defies illustration or description. Naturally lucid and unwavering, the spacious expanse of utter lucidity is not created but is spontaneously present, with no fixed reach or range.

Though things arise, none of them has any independent nature whatsoever.
Like water in a mirage, a dream, an echo, a phantom emanation, a reflection, a castle in the air, or a hallucination, all things are clearly apparent yet do not truly exist- they merely manifest adventitiously, without basis or support.

In simply arising, forms are by nature empty.
From what is unborn there manifests what seems to be born, but even as it manifests, nothing whatsoever has been born.
From what is unceasing there manifests what seems to cease, but there is no cessation.
These are illusory expressions of emptiness.
Even with abiding there is nothing that abides.
There is no basis on which anything could abide.
Within the context in which there is no coming and going, regardless of what manifests, it never exists as what it seems to be, and so one is reduced to merely labeling it as "having no independent nature."

Whatever occurs, by examining basic space as its matrix and abode you find that it has no foundation, but is subsumed within the timeless freedom of mind.
Beyond labels and their meanings, confusion and its absence are subsumed within the true nature of phenomena- the timeless expanse...

Song of the Soul
I am neither ego nor reason, I am neither mind nor thought,
I cannot be heard nor cast into words, by smell or sight never caught:
In light and wind I am not found, neither in earth nor sky -
Consciousness and joy incarnate, Bliss of the Blissful am I.

I have no name, I have no life, I breathe no vital air,
No elements have moulded me, no bodily sheath is my lair:
I have no speech, no hands and feet, nor means of evolution -
Consciousness and joy am I, and Bliss in dissolution.

I cast aside hatred and passion, I conquered delusion and greed;
No touch of pride caressed me, so envy never did breed:
Beyond all faiths, past reach of wealth, past freedom, past desire,
Consciousness and joy am I, and Bliss is my attire.

Virtue and vice, or pleasure and pain are not my heritage,
Nor sacred texts, nor offerings, nor prayer, nor pilgrimage:
I am neither food, nor eating, nor yet the eater am I-
Consciousness and joy incarnate, Bliss of the Blissful am I.

I have no misgiving of death, no chasms of race divide me,
No parent ever called me child, no bond of birth ever tied me:
I am neither disciple nor master, I have no kin, no friend
Consciousness and joy am I, and merging in Bliss is my end.

Neither knowable, knowledge, nor knower am I, formless is my form,
I dwell within the senses but they are not my home:
Ever serenely balanced, I am neither free nor bound
Consciousness and joy am I, and Bliss is where I am found.

    Smile of the Moment!

.......The most unfair thing about life....... the way it ends.
What do you get?
A death.
What's that, a bonus?

You should die first,
you know, start out dead,
get it out of the way.
You wake up in a an old age home,
feeling better every day.

You get kicked out for being too healthy,
go collect your pension,
then, when you start work,
you get a gold watch on your first day.

You work 40 years until you're young enough
to enjoy your retirement.
You drink alcohol, you party,
you're generally promiscuous
(hey, you've only got a few years left,
what's the big deal?!?)
and you get ready for High School.

Then you go to primary school,
you become a kid,
you play,
you have no responsibilities,
and, finally,
you become a baby!

The last step,
you spend your last 9 months
floating peacefully
with luxuries like
central heating,
room service on tap,
larger quarters everyday,
and then...
You finish off as an orgasm!
