Party Time
The Awakening to the Dream forum has now 500 registered users. Michael, a long time member and active poster, suggested that we invite all users to post a poem, quote or joke to celebrate. So here is your invitation to the party. Awaken the inner poet or get out your favorite poetry book. Quote Einstein, the Buddha, Groucho Marx, or your self. Suggest your favorite book, movie, or song, or share that joke or great link. No need for fancy dressing, come as you are; be as you are.
My contribution is a web page I made from a great email, sent to me by my friend Krishna. It may take a little while to load, but it's worth the wait. Enjoy.

    Q & A.
Question: I have to say that I really enjoyed your book- it was without doubt one of the best (if not the best) book that I have read regarding the way this actually is. I also recently went to see your friend Tony Parsons in Dublin which was a very interesting experience.
My problem still remains though that I seem to have a distinctively troublesome mind- at times I wonder if I am going insane- I feel total guilty for the extremely dark feelings, thoughts and urges which plague me- I feel like I'm in the middle of the worst nightmare ever!!!!!
Answer: In resent answers about depression I have suggested that one looks into this with an open mind. The dark moods may be ascribed to the seeking, while in fact they also could have many other reasons. There might be a chemical/emotional imbalance in the system that requires professional assistance. Now, if your condition is not caused by an imbalance in the system then the following might be looked into: When we read the question it is full of ?I? and ?me.? If this ?I? is the one with all the different problems, then we should look into this ?I? concept. Who is this ?I? that has a troublesome mind, and who or what is this ?I? that is going insane and feeling guilty? Surely you have heard these questions before, now it might be the time to answer them truthfully.
Question: A few years ago I had what I had a kundalini awakening which nearly fried me both mentally and physically- the result of this is that now any time there is even a bit of a clear seeing for 'this as it is' my whole body feels like its going to explode with the intense pressure from this energy.
Answer: What happens if it is welcomed? What if there is the willingness to totally explode? Invite it in and see what happens. I guarantee you that no one will have to scrape your body from the walls and ceiling.
Question: I'm lost beyond belief and wish I was dead. In one way I think I am so close to seeing this for what it is (if you can be close) yet at the same time feel like I am a million miles away. These thoughts of the darkest perversion are what truly crucify me- I just can't see how there could be any way out of this.
Answer: The bad news here is that there is no way out of it. The good news is that there is no one into this that has to get out. It may sound cryptic, but it simply means that there is no separate ?I.? All there is is One-Life expressing AS all possible options. One of ITS expressions is the sense of being an ?I? with a life. There is no ?I? to be the owner of a life. This sense of being an ?I? is LIFE ItSelf appearing AS such and idea.
Question: It's funny in one way because I am pretty popular person who gets on with everyone- I know in one way that I know this 'as it is' so well- I work quite uniquely as an audio visual artist at times capturing the subtle essence of presence which has always been totally familiar to me even from a young age- this was what was so pronounced after the kundalini awakening as everything seemed like it did when I was very very young- there was total awe for the beauty present in everything as it is- this is always the case when I seem to loose myself from worrying thoughts- a total wonder for life as it is- in awakening is this child like wonder how things constantly appear? I would thoroughly appreciate any help you can give me!!!! Thank you for taking the time to read this email!!
Answer: The beauty, the sense of awe, the wonder as well as the pain the agony and the dark thoughts, are experiences appearing in and on the Awareness You Are. This Primal Unconditioned Awareness expresses AS everything. It expresses as the thought ?I AM.? IT is the Identity?That-Is -the ?I AM? of everything- and it is what you truly are. It is the One and Only Doer and Knower. There is no little you that can do anything, all actions, thoughts, feelings are from and by this One Energy. Without it, the body would be dead meat.
When this is looked into, it will become clear that there is no thinker apart from thought; that this thinker is itself nothing but a self arising thought. The same is true for feelings and actions. See trough this dance and recognize that there is no seer, just seeing. The Center cannot be approached, IT is the clear emptiness YOU ARE. All appearances are the content of this Center or Eternal Context. The rest, such as ideas, thoughts, feelings, bodies, stars, monsters, trees and so on, is fleeting content. Know that You already and always are the Unknowable Knowing Context and be at ease.

    Presence/Awareness
Who are you? The answer to the question seems to make more sense if it is asked; what are you? The answer is that you are the real, the unchanging, being amidst that which is in constant change. You are presence/awareness. Presence/Awareness cannot be any more or less present and aware than what it is. As it is, it is whole and complete. It is untouched by time, space, events, or thought. Everything that is, appears in awareness. Awareness does not pick, choose, or judge what appears upon or within it. It does not matter what happens, awareness contains it as it is. The mind then gets involved and suddenly things appear as what you think about them, but prior to and after that, awareness lovingly embraces all that is. Even while the mind is rebelling against something, awareness shines its light on that rebellion. Some use the analogy of a mirror to describe awareness. It reflects everything clearly without being changed in anyway by what it reflects.
You may think, ?Okay, I am presence/awareness.? Once you begin to look at this and take it into the mind - the mind will want to turn it into something that it has. Adding that concept onto the ?I? thought. ?I am aware.? ?I am present.? But, if that is what is happening, you?re not 'tuning in' so to speak to the actual presence/awareness. Presence/awareness is not in the mind and it cannot be contained in the mind. That thought, as with the rock, is not the actual. You don?t have awareness; you are awareness. You don?t have a presence; you are presences. The thought of it turns what you actually are into a concept to which the mind can relate. While that is happening, you are the presence/awareness standing in the clear waiting to be discovered. This cannot be stressed enough, everything is just an appearance within the awareness that you are. Without exception, everything.
Only the thought of presence/awareness can be brought into the mind for consideration. While you are thinking about presence/awareness you are present and aware. You can?t objectify what you are.
So how do you stay with the presence awareness that you are? It is effortless because it is always on... you don?t have to try just see. If you're trying then you're just not noticing that it is inescapably what is all the time; or you're trying to become something that you already are. Presence is effortless. Awareness is effortless. The fact is you don?t have any choice but to stay with it, because you are it. It does not change. It does not move. It does not hide, but be watchful; don?t turn the obvious presence/awareness into a concept or an idea about yourself. Stay with the livingness of it by not following what the mind thinks about it. Presence/Awareness is in the ever present now.

    Awakened Poetry

From The Six Vajra Verses
Although apparent phenomena manifest as diversity ---
yet this diversity is non-dual.
And of all the multiplicity
of individual things that exist,
none can be confined in a limited concept.
Staying free from the trap of any attempt
to say 'it's like this', or 'like that',
it becomes clear that all manifested forms are
aspects of the infinite formless,
and, indivisible from it,
are self-perfected.
Seeing that everything is self-perfected
from the very beginning,
the disease of striving for any achievement
is surrendered,
and just remaining in the natural state
as it is,
the presence of non-dual contemplation
continuously spontaneously arises.

    Quote of the moment!

As the rivers flowing east and west
Merge in the sea and become one with it,
Forgetting they were ever separate rivers,
So do all creatures lose their separateness
When they merge at last into pure Being.

The Discovery
A team of archaeologists found a slab of rock with 5 figures carved on it, in order:
A Woman;
A Donkey;
A Shovel;
A Fish;
A Star of David.

After months of study, the leader took the rock and went on a lecture tour. He said the carvings were thousands of years old but even so, they revealed a lot about the people of that time.
The woman being placed first in the line of figures showed that women were held in very high steem - most likely a family oriented culture. They probably used the donkey to till the fields. The shovel shows they were highly intelligent as they knew how to make tools. The fish shows they knew how to augment the crops they raised by also reaping from the sea. The Star of David of course indicates they were a very religious group of people.
A little old man in the front row finally got the attention of the speaker. When acknowledged he said, "I'm sorry to blow your conclusions but you were reading it left to right. In Hebrew we read from right to left.
That way it reads, "Holy Mackerel, dig the ass on that broad."
