    Q & A.
Question: There is knowing that I am not the body or mind. There is knowing that everything is consciousness. There is spaciousness at times and not at others and still there is knowing that everything is included, everything is It. But there has not been a shift- a falling in love with it that so many speak of- only intellectual understanding. The intellectual understanding knows that there is nothing to do, there is no where to go, that the shift will happen when it happens if it happens.
So I have come to a standstill- I can't find the point of anything- what is the use of reading the next book or going to a retreat or listening to tapes and feeling "spaciousness". It just comes and goes as it will. Most concepts have disappeared- God, reincarnation, spirituality, right and wrong, etc. and the identities that formed a "me" are eroding- I don't feel anything hearing the National Anthem, I take no pride in my ancestry, feel apolitical- just so detached from everything and everyone. It scares me that the drive to know the truth has just died. There is such sadness and hopelessness.
Answer: Hopelessness is the unwelcome twin brother of hope. Wherever hope appears, the twin is not far behind. Hoping that one ?gets it? is the nice way of saying that one is afraid to not get it.
It is clear that you have read a lot, but perhaps one essential point has been missed. That point would be that all these words and concepts are in themselves barren, just as the word sugar is forever devoid of flavor.
All words about ?The Truth? are mere pointers and have no ultimate truth within them. The words that come up now do not presume to be able to convert you to a hopeful person, but they are trying to point to THAT what is aware of the person; including the hope and the hopelessness. They say: ?Never mind what we read, the mystery is in THAT what is aware OF the reading.?
You know, words about falling in love with this, and a shift to be made, are also just concepts. Actually there cannot be a shift from the experience of hopelessness to THAT what is no experience at all. All these words point from and to IT. IT stands here for the inexperience-able experiencing at the very core of Being, prior to all states, ideas and concepts.
There is no one apart from This to fall in love with it, but as long as that position is present why not use it? What I mean is this: Surrender everything; all knowledge, all fear, all hope, all desperation and all ideas about a shift that should occur. Make all pain and depression that does not want to leave welcome. Notice all possible resistance to this and make that welcome too.
With your knowledge of non dual philosophy, you might say that there is no one that can do this, but if this is truly clear, then there can also be no one to be hopeless. The apparent path of knowledge (Jnana) has brought ?you? to the edge. Why not jump from this edge, empty handed into the abyss of the Unknown? Or, if this is not possible, why not see if devotion (Bhakti) is available? Make the ugly twin brother at home and say to the ONE ?Do with me as Thou willeth? or ?Thy will be done.? All this without hope to fall in love and above all without despair that it will not happen.
Surrender the idea that IT is an experience, a shift, or anything known, to be had by some one that now does not have it. In and beyond all this is the Knowing-That-You-Are, which cannot be denied. This Knowing-Presence is your ?Original Face.? It is the Unknown prior to thought, yet IT expresses as the thought I Am. This is what you ARE; not what you will become, not what you will fall in or out of love with, but what you are: WHAT IS.
Finally, if at all possible, forget all this, and -if you are blessed with a healthy pair of legs- take walks in nature or in town -eyes and ears wide open- and be willing to be amazed with ordinary Beingness. If the question comes ?What is the use of all this?? see who cares. Simply BE AS YOU ARE.

    Unity
1. All including the world seen by you and yourself, the seer of the world, is one only.
2. All that you consider as I, you, he, she and it, is one only.
3. What you consider to be sentient beings and what you consider to be insentient, such as earth, air, fire and water is all one.
4. The good which is derived by your considering all as one cannot be had by considering each as separate from the other. Therefore all is one.

5. The knowledge of the unity of all, is good for you and good for others as well. Therefore all is one.
6. He who sees "I am separate," "you are separate," "he is separate" and so on, acts one way to himself and another way to others. He cannot help doing so. The thought "I am separate, others are separate" is the seed from which grows the tree of differing actions in relation to different persons. How can there be any lapse from righteousness for a person who knows the unity of himself with others? As long as the germ of differentiation is there, the tree of differing actions will flourish, even unawares. Therefore give up differentiation. All is one only.
7. Ask: "If in the world all things appear different, how can I consider all as one? Is there any way of gaining this knowledge?" The reply is: "In the same tree we see leaves, flowers, berries and branches, different from one another, yet they are all one because they are all included in the word 'tree'. Their root is the same; their sap is the same. Similarly, all things, all bodies, all organisms are from the same source and activated by a single life principle." Therefore all is one.
8. 0h good man! Is the statement that "All is one," good or evil? Think for yourself. Just as the person will always be righteous who regards himself like others and others like himself, how can any evil attach itself to him who knows himself to be others and the others to be himself? Tell me if there is any better way for obtaining good than the knowledge of unity? Certainly other methods cannot be as good as this one. How can anyone love others more than when knowing them to be himself, to know them in unity-love as unity, for they are truly one.
9. Who can share the mental peace and freshness of the knower of unity? He has no cares. The Good of all is his own good. A mother considers her children's well-being to be her own well-being. Still, her love is not perfect because she thinks she is separate and her children are separate. The love of a Sage, who has realized the unity of all, far excels even the love of a mother. There is no other means of gaining such love than the knowledge of unity. Therefore all is one.
10. Know that the world as a whole is your undecaying body and that you are the everlasting life of the whole world. Tell me if there is any harm in doing so? Who fears to go the harmless way? Be courageous. The Vedas teach this very truth. There is nothing but yourself. All good will be yours. Yea, you become the good itself. All that others gain from you will be good only. Who will work evil to his own body and soul? A remedy is applied if there is an abscess in the body. Even if the remedy is painful, it is meant to do good only. Such will be some of your actions; they will also be for the good of the world. For that reason, you will not be involved in differentiation. I put it briefly: The knower of unity will act as one should. In fact, the knowledge of unity makes him act. He cannot err. In the world, he is God made visible. All is one.

Free
So often gave myself to be
a channel of Thy peace
But never without begging Lord
for You to set me free

And now surrendering took place
of even that reward,
now through Your eyes I come to see,
this life in time and space

From here there is no one that?s bound
There?s just this life unfolding
And in the seeing of it?s ways
is where the freedom?s found

It?s here the seeker comes to see;
there IS no where to go.
There's life, just as it's always been
And I was ever free.

    Quote of the moment!

Who speaks the sound of an echo?
Who paints the image in a mirror?
Where are the spectacles in a dream?
Nowhere at all -- that's the nature of mind!

Maharishi Fattifatbastard?s Guide to Zen
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and a flat tyre.
The darkest hours come just before the dawn.
So if you're going to steal your neighbour's milk and newspaper, that's the time to do it.
Sex is like air. It only becomes really important when you aren't getting any.
Don't aspire to become irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.
Remember, no-one is listening until you fart.
Never forget that like everyone else, you are unique.
Never test the depth of the water with both feet.
If you think nobody cares whether you're dead or alive, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.
Before you judge someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.
That way, when you judge them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
If at first you don't succeed, avoid skydiving.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.
Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
Have you ever lent someone ?20 and never seen that person again? It was probably worth it.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
Some days we are the flies; some days we are the windscreen.
Don't worry; it only seems kinky the first time.
Good judgment comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.
A closed mouth gathers no feet.
There are two theories about how to win an argument with a woman. Neither one works.
Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.
Never miss a good chance to shut up.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
When we are born we are naked, wet, hungry, and we get smacked on our arse.
From there on in, life gets worse.
The most wasted day of all is one in which we have not laughed.
Remember not to forget that which you do not need to know.
