    Q & A.
Question: If knowing can not be known as sight can not be seen, why do I ask the question?.What compells awareness to inquire of awareness. Is it just lila (a game/dance/dream)?
Answer: Dear ...
Why does a child try to see its own eyes?
Why does a cat look behind the TV to see where the bird on the screen has gone?
Why does a puppy chase its own tail?
And why do we humans chase our tales?

Perhaps to establish beyond all doubt the fruitlessness of such activity.....
Or perhaps just for the fun of it.

Question: And, if there is no purpose or meaning to any of this other than to experience it, there is a certain despair that accompanies that aimless pointless existance.
Answer: Reflecting on this it seems that purposeless-ness often equals delight. Dancing is not 'going' anywhere. We are not listening to music to reach the end of the song, we are not smelling a rose in order to improve ourselves.
Watching clouds, seeing a bird soar, waves catching the sun's reflection on the ocean, and a billion stars scattered across the expanse of the sky; the sheer IS-ness of It All does not seem to demand -or to be in need of- a purpose beyond What IS.

Mark McCloskey: But tell me Jan, it is one thing to talk of all this and make a declaration to the world that you and I see this and that the movie exists. It is quite another to integrate this vision into living. After all what good is any 'spirituality' if humanity does not embrace it - in other words lives daily out of pure silence or out of the Self, or from the place called 'Home.' It seems to me that seeing the True Self as it is implies that life becomes 'selfless service' to that truth and each of us has an implicit duty to shine to all those still in illusion. I find that most authors writing about the Spirit leave it there as some disembodied entity. To me that is not what it's about. Ultimately we have responsibility to be compassion itself. The only thing we can do is plunge into the flesh, into suffering, and perhaps try to enlighten the dark parts of the movie. I don't remember who said it but there is an adage 'Enlightenment is not personal, it's for the whole, the other, as well.' I'm interested in your thoughts on this as well.
Jan Kersschot: I am not sure whether we have to integrate our vision into living. I wonder what is the real reason for saving the world. And according to what standards are we going to do that? We all know what the results are if two groups want to destroy the evil in the world, when both of them have opposite opinions on what is good and what is bad. I really wonder if all this struggle against 'evil' is really doing humanity any good.
I wonder why we have to try to enlighten the dark parts of the movie. And can we do so or do we think we can? As the world is right now, that is 'It'. My (or your) personal opinion on what is happening in the world is just another cloud passing by. And all those clouds are also 'It'. And if you or someone else feels like spreading spirituality, that is also 'It.' I can't criticize that. And if you think that we have an implicit duty to shine to all those still in illusion, that is also 'It.' But those people in illusion are also 'It' and they are not one inch further away from 'It' than we are. I don't see any boundaries any more. How would I dare to create any separation? I have no tools any more to judge anyone or anything. How could I criticize God's creation? All I am left with is this 'pure silence' which leaves me with no tools for judgment or critics. And that may sound threatening to many, but for me it is total freedom. Not freedom for Jan, but just naked freedom in itself. As such, enlightenment is not personal, it is for the whole indeed. This 'coming Home' is for all the others as well - because there are no 'others'. That is why my second book is called 'Nobody Home': the separation is an illusion, and so are all the theories based on individuality.
I realize that some words of mine may sound as if I am sitting behind a wall of glass, looking at the world from a distance. That I don't care any more about the suffering of my fellow people. Let me tell you that it is just the opposite. When separation is seen as illusory, it doesn't mean that only the other people's ego is illusory; it also means that my ego is illusory. And that I am not separate from them. In that Oneness, there are no rules to take care of your neighbour as for yourself, because there is no more separation! Any sense of separation is only a mental image in our minds. And knowing that does not prevent you from helping your neighbour. Helping those in need just happens spontaneously.
Seeing that there is nobody home, that there is only One, may open us up to whatever that is appearing, without any personal agenda. It may reveal the source of unconditional love, of true compassion. Quite naturally, not because we feel as if we have to save the world. Then there is only Silence and in that silence the apparent world appears as a magic snapshot. Like those words from you on your website:
There is a gentle, loving, peace-filled silence here and now in this moment. It has always been this way. It is always here. It is right here within you and all around you, a stillness, an apparent void, a seeming nothingness out of which everything arises, exists, and eventually returns. You know this. You have felt this. There is nothing more than this. You are this.

    Awakened Poetry

The Thunder, Perfect Mind.
For I am the first and the last.
I am the honored one and the scorned one.
I am the whore and the holy one.
I am the wife and the virgin....
I am the barren one, and many are her sons....
I am the silence that is incomprehensible....
I am the utterance of my name.

The atheist and the bear
An atheist was taking a walk through the woods, admiring all that the ?accident of evolution? had created. ?What majesty trees! What powerful rivers! What beautiful animals!? he said to himself.
As he was walking alongside the river he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look. He saw a seven foot grizzly bear charging towards him. He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder and saw the bear was closing in.
He ran even faster, so scared that tears were coming to his eyes. He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. His heart was pumping frantically and he tried to run even faster. He tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up but saw the bear, right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw and raising his right paw to strike him.
At that instant the Atheist cried out, ?O my God??
Time stopped?.The bear froze?.The forest was silent?.Even the river stopped moving.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a Voice came out of the sky: ?You deny my existence for all of these years, teach others I don?t exist, and even credit creation to a cosmic accident. Do you expect Me to help you out of this predicament? Am I to count you as a believer??
The atheist looked directly into the light. ?It would be hypocritical to ask to be a Christian after all these years, but perhaps could you make the bear a Christian??
?Very well,? said the Voice.
The light went out?.The river ran again?.And the sounds of the forest resumed.
And then the bear dropped his right paw?brought both paws together? bowed his head and spoke:
?Lord, for this food which I am about to receive, I am truly thankful.?
